Man suspected of taunting bison in Yellowstone arrested

He was then taken to Mammoth Hot Springs and booked in the Yellowstone Jail.

Raymond Reinke from Pendleton, OR, was apprehended Thursday night at Glacier National Park, more than 300 miles away.

"This isn't an everyday occurrence that this teamwork happens, but it does when we have opportunities like this", said Lauren Alley, a spokesperson for Glacier National Park.

The video, recorded Tuesday and posted to Facebook by visitor Lindsey Jones, shows a bison causing a traffic jam on a road inside the Hayden Valley area of the park.

Reinke was scheduled to appear in court today.

A man was arrested Thursday at approximately 10:45 p.m.at the Many Glacier Hotel after park rangers responded to a report of two guests arguing loudly and creating a disturbance in the hotel dining room.

A man seen in a widely circulated video provoking a Yellowstone National Park bison by waving his arms at the creature, prompting it to charge him, was arrested by rangers on suspicion of harassing wildlife, park officials said on Friday.

In a statement released by the NPS, Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk said, "We appreciate the collaboration of our fellow rangers in Glacier and Grand Teton national parks on this arrest".

On July 28, Reinke faced an arrest by law enforcement rangers at Grand Teton National Park for a drunk and disorderly conduct incident. Ranger reported he was drunk and argumentative and he was ultimately cited for a seat belt violation on July 31. They found Reinke later that evening and issued a citation requiring a court appearance. After spending the night in the Teton County Jail, he was released on bond.

Yellowstone rangers connected Reinke's troubling behavior this past week and took their case to Montana's Assistant U.S. Attorney who requested his bond from Sunday be revoked. "The request was granted and on the night of August 2, a warrant was issued for Reinke's arrest".

And that didn't prove too hard after rangers responded to a disturbance complaint at the Many Glacier Hotel. One of those individuals was identified as Reinke. They also said they cited him on Monday for not wearing a seatbelt.

He remains jailed, with his next hearing set for 11 a.m. August 8.
