Manchester United open talks with Chelsea for defender

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is yet to travel to Merseyside despite Everton trying to push through a deal to sign him on loan.

In case you didn't know.

. Today, Man Utd are in talks with Chelsea over Kurt Zouma... He was linked to Manchester United and West Ham United this summer.

The Mirror believe Everton submitted a deal sheet that could go allow them to sign the France global, despite the deal going beyond the 5pm deadline for Premier League clubs.

The deal in principle makes sense for both parties.

Set to don the red of Manchester United? On the other hand, Zouma is in need of more playing time and with the likes of Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger in the Chelsea squad coupled with the emergence of Andreas Christensen, he is unlikely to see much first-team action.

Zouma signed for Chelsea from Saint-Etienne for £12 million in January 2014, moving to Stamford Bridge six months later and establishing himself as a regular under Jose Mourinho until an ACL injury in Fabruary 2016 derailed his progress.

L'Equipe are an extremely reliable source, and the fact that they are reporting this indicates the deal is close to completion.

The central defender is undergoing a medical at Everton ahead of a potential loan move from Chelsea, according to the Telegraph's Chris Bascombe. But, before suffering that awful cruciate ligament injury in the spring of 2016, Zouma was seen as one of the best young defenders around.
