Palm-branded 3.3-inch smartphone in the works

Rumors of a Palm-branded Android phone coming this year from TCL (the company that bought them back in 2015), first arose in March and then popped up again a couple days ago when just such a device passed through the FCC.

Palm has not come up with a smartphone since 2011, when it announced the Pre 3 and now we have these leaked images of a smartphone codenamed "Pepito" that comes with a 3.3-inch 720p LCD screen. Keeping the lights on will supposedly be a small 800mAh capacity battery. Under the hood, the new Palm phone is expected to have a Snapdragon 435 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

In 2018, a phone with Palm branding might be released running Android. Though we are sure that the 3.3-inch display along with the processor is going to draw much less power but even after that, it is hard to see this device lasting for more than half a day or so. To say this new Palm phone is a little odd considering its 2018 is an understatement. The phone won't have a headphone jack, and will come in a Gold colour option as well as the black we see here. The potential for a refreshing and innovative device was certainly there but according to the latest from Android Police, well, you'll probably want to wrangle those expectations a bit.

Do you think a small budget phone like this will find a market or have we all moved on to bigger and arguably better things?
