Pellegrini warns West Ham fans to be patient after spending big

Pellegrini warns West Ham fans to be patient after spending big

Unai Emery finally got his Premier League campaign up and running as Arsenal defeated West Ham United 3-1 in a fierce encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With an own goal, and error leading to a goal and lack of composure with the ball at his feet, Diop had a game to forget as Arsenal ran rings around him for long periods in the second half.

The best outfield player for West Ham on the night, Anderson picked up the assist for Arnautovic's goal, and also completed four dribbles and made three tackles, as his pace and direct approach were too hot to handle at times for the Arsenal backline.

FW Danny Welbeck, N/R - Came on for Aubameyang (75) and took his goal well. Both sides have yet to pick up a point this season, so something has to give! Emery made the big call of leaving Mesut Ozil out of the starting XI after an apparent disagreement in training although the line given to journalists was that he was ill on the day.

Ozil was subbed after just an hour of last Saturday's game away to Chelsea, the same fate that befell Aaron Ramsey the week previous against Manchester City.

FW Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 6 - With Ozil absent, much of the creative responsibility was placed on Mkhitaryan.

West Ham pressed forward to try and grab an equaliser but fortunately for the Gunners, they visitors couldn't find a way into the net.

West Ham also started the Premier League season with two back-to-back losses to Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Jack Wilshere is preparing for an emotional return to Arsenal as West Ham United gear up for a London derby tomorrow. And regarding changes, Pellegrini could field club record signing, Filipe Anderson in a No.10 role while giving his left-sided attacking role to another recruit in Andriy Yarmolenko.

It would be interesting to see the fire in a player, who despite wanting to stay at Arsenal, was seemingly pushed out and this is going to be a chance for him to prove his former employers wrong on many levels.

Having been tied up with injuries in recent years, a move to West Ham could work out for the midfielder although on the evidence of the opening two games the 26-year old needs more game time to get up to full speed.
