Red Dead Redemption 2 gets long-awaited gameplay footage

The Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer has dropped, revealing just how protagonist Arthur Morgan will interact with the world, his gang, and even his horses and assorted wildlife.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th, 2018.

On Thursday, August 9, Rockstar Games released the first in-game footage of Red Dead Redemption 2 after the studio has only released cinematic trailers and still images up to this point. All other marks and trademarks are properties of their respective owners. So far, we've only got three trailers (watch them here, here, and here) each of which has been under two minutes long and consisted mostly of cinematics.

The video will be available on YouTube and Rockstar Games' official website. The game casts players as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and high-ranking member of the Van der Linde gang.

On the gameplay front, Red Dead Redemption 2 appears to have a refreshingly stripped down HUD, with only a small mini-map and the occasional dialogue options on screen. America is seeing the last of its wild western days, and local enforcements are making every effort to push the remaining gangs to extinction. The graphics are incredibly well produced, and with a track record as good as Rockstar - players should expect this kind of graphical ability when the game releases. The video implies the Van der Linde gang will be driven from various territories over the course of the story, but the footage makes the camp look like a thriving community.

We'll also see a familiar face in the vast open world, in the form of a young John Marston, who is the fan favourite star from the previous game, if you somehow didn't know.
