Soul singer Aretha Franklin will pull through, says nephew

The 20-year-old "OTW" singer was spotted at Los Angeles airport recently and paparazzi caught up with him to see if he thought Aretha Franklin was the Queen of Soul, being as shes reported to be on her last days.

Rev. Jesse Jackson and Franklin's ex-husband Glynn Turman also paid her a visit at her home on Tuesday.

At this time, Franklin's exact condition remains unknown, but she's reportedly in hospice care surrounded by her loved ones.

News from Franklin's camp concerning her health has been limited, but rumours began in March, when the singer cancelled two of her concerts in New Jersey.

No further details have been revealed yet but the concert, which has been approved by Aretha, is likely to feature stars performing her best-known songs, including Say A Little Prayer, R.E.S.P.E.C.T and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

Fans, friends and musicians influenced by Franklin offered positive words to the iconic singer when news broke that she was ill, including Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tyler Perry, Missy Elliott and Wayne Brady.

The American singer and songwriter's nephew later provided an update on her health - insisting she will "pull through" her recent bout of illness. "My brother was there on Saturday and she was alert, talking, laughing, joking", he continued. "We hope you'll lift her up by listening and sharing her songs that have meant the most to you".

Aretha's longtime publicist Gwendolyn Quinn told People magazine: 'Aretha Franklin has been the Matriarch of the Franklin family since the passing of all of her siblings.
