Walker reacts to Trump's call for Harley boycott

President Donald Trump, using Twitter again to criticise a company he once hailed as a "true American icon", gave his backing to Harley-Davidson motorcycle owners who may boycott the manufacturer if it moves some production out of the US.

Harley said it stands to lose as much as $100 million a year, and the company pledged to shift some of its production overseas so that it could avoid the added tariffs on motorcycles sold in the EU.

"They've been planning this move for many years now, and its common knowledge in the biker field", Cox said during an interview on "The Evening Edit" on Monday. He said "we should boycott Fake News CNN" on Twitter a year ago, and he reposted a message calling for a boycott of the NFL for failing to take more severe action against players who kneel during the national anthem.

It started when Trump imposed hefty tariffs on steel and aluminum imports earlier this year in an effort to bolster domestic manufacturing.

Trump is calling for a boycott of Harley-Davidson as the company invests in production facilities in Europe.

The company previously announced a plan to move some production to Thailand.

"Harley-Davidson believes the tremendous cost increase, if passed onto its dealers and retail customers, would have an immediate and lasting detrimental impact to its business in the region, reducing customer access to Harley-Davidson products and negatively impacting the sustainability of its dealers' businesses", the company said at the time. "Great!" Trump wrote on Twitter on Sunday. A really bad move!

"Great", the president said.

The company announced in June that it may have to move some of its manufacturing operations out of the USA after the European Union imposed retaliatory tariffs on American exports.
