iHeartRadio reported that Genest was found in his apartment.

He was well known for appearing in the video for Lady Gaga hit "Born This Way" in 2011.

Gaga mourned his death on Twitter, writing, "The suicide of friend Rick Genest, Zombie Boy is beyond devastating".

Gaga told her social media followers that she would be working to raise mental health awareness in the months ahead.

The singer also posted to announce a new partnership with her Born This Way Foundation to "explore the power of habits to build cultures of kindness and wellness". Canada's assistance resources can be found here. "Reach out if you're in pain, and if you know someone who is, reach out to them too".

The Montreal native got attention for his tattoos, which covered nearly his entire body and earned him the nickname "Zombie Boy".

He started inking himself at the age of 16 and ended up covering 90 per cent of his body, achieving two Guinness World Records: one for having the most bugs tattooed on his body (176), another for the most bones (139). If you are suffering, call a friend or family today. By the time he was 19, his body was covered in ink. Fortunately he underwent a successful surgery then went on to work in freakshows across Canada as an "illustrated man" with his head to toe inkings.

In the clip, the artist replicated his face tattoos.
