Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta kicks off this week

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta kicks off this week

As each and every day goes by, we are getting closer to the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

With Battle Royale being so popular right now, it made sense that Call Of Duty would also want to offer something similar and that is where the new Blackout map will come in.

If you own a PlayStation 4, you get first dibs on the action starting today as the Blackout beta is officially live.

And as with most Call of Duty releases, it will also launch at 6pm in the evening.

Monday, 10th September - Monday, 17th September.

The Blackout beta only features one map, which is Call of Duty's biggest map ever, and will include locations modelled after fan favourite maps like Nuketown and Turbine. You can watch GameSpot's victorious Blackout round in the video embed above.

"Of course, this is a Beta, and we'll be fine-tuning the game based on a full week of input from you, our players, to make Blackout the best possible experience at launch on October 12".

The PS4-exclusive private beta event is giving the CoD community its first taste of the all-new Blackout mode, a battle royale experience that merges conventional CoD gameplay with a fast-paced, last-player-standing free-for-all that will see as many as 80 characters shooting it out at once.

The four zombies locations on the Blackout map. Dead Silence will temporarily reduce the sound of your footsteps, while Skulker will allow you to move more quickly while prone or crouching. In terms of the battle royale genre, Fortnite still wears the crown, but I have a hard time comparing it to its competitors.

So for Call of Duty aficionados, there will be a lot for you to pick through and discover as you play - that's pretty cool. It feels great to finally play Blackout with the rest of the world, and we've only just begun. We have all of the information you need to know covered.

According to expert Call of Duty YouTube broadcaster Drift0r, the Blackout map should fall somewhere between 4.5km2 and 7.4km2.

Perks can be found around the map just like any other weapon or piece of equipment.
