Friends actor Matthew Perry shares three month hospital stay on Twitter

A month ago, Matthew Perry's rep confirmed the "Friends" actor had undergone gastrointestinal surgery. but fans never knew the extent of Perry's struggle, until now.

"The news comes following last month's announcement that the former Friends star had undergone an operation in LA - a spokeswoman for the 49 year old said at the time that he was grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals".

In his first tweet since March, Matthew wrote: 'Three months in a hospital bed.

He said,"Three months in a hospital bed".

One user wrote: "We love you".

Others noted that they had not heard anything from Matthew Perry in a long time and had grown anxious about him.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a gastrointestinal perforation is caused by a hole which can develop through the stomach, large bowel, or small intestine. And I said, "What do you mean unstick you?"

Symptoms include severe abdominal pain and emergency surgery is usually required.

"It's an exaggerated form of myself, but I am an open wound out there by the end of the play, that's for sure", he told ET of the play in April 2017.

Matthew found fame back in the 1990s while starring as Chandler in the classic USA sitcom.

"When you're having a bad day, the best thing you can do is call somebody and ask them how they're doing", Perry added, "and actually pay attention and listen to the answer to get out of your own head".

He has also spoken openly about his time in rehab two years later and described the experience of getting sober as "hard".

Alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, he was one of the most recognisable faces on TV.
