In video, Delhi cop's son beats woman; arrested after Rajnath Singh intervenes

In a spine-chilling incident, a video has surfaced on social media where a young man can be seen brutally beating a girl to the pulp in Delhi's Tilak Nagar. Union home minister Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter to direct Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take necessary action.

Well, the video was quite disturbing and Home Minister Raj Nath Singh today ordered action to be taken against him. His ex-girlfriend had reportedly approached the police for Tomar's past violent behaviour but the Delhi Police had allegedly refused to act. She alleged that she was threatened with the same kind of treatment if she didn't follow his instructions.

The accused was arrested under section 376 (Punishment for rape), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC. She filed a complaint to officers on Friday alleging she had been raped and was beaten up after saying she would report him to the police.

In the video, he can be seen abusing and continuously slapping her.

The person filming it could be heard asking Tomar to stop beating the woman. Police said that the video was shot on 2 September in Uttam Nagar and that they are on the lookout for the accused who is believed to be the son of a Delhi Police sub-inspector. Delhi police has registered.The person, shooting the video was Tomar's friend who also tried to dissuade him.

The complainant said she has now called off the wedding with Tomar. When contacted by ThePrint, Ali said he took this video for his own safety.

The woman, seen in the video shared widely on social media and shown on TV channels, told the police that Rohit Tomar called her to his friend's office in Uttam Nagar and raped her, Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), said.
