Michael Strahan would kneel in protest with the National Football League players

A large billboard stands on top of a Nike store showing former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick at Union Square, Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, in San Francisco.

During an interview with Fox Business host Stuart Varney, former National Football League player Burgess Owens compared Nike using Colin Kaepernick as the face of the brand's new "Just Do It" campaign to 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

That includes a 36-pt drop among Gen Z, an important group for Nike.

The ad which has appeared on billboards in NY and California includes a close-up photo of Kaepernick with the sentence: "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything".

"When my father, who's 81, can look at me and tell me that he's not offended by it because he understands, then how could I who didn't do that service be offended?" Though Kaepernick originally meant to sit down while the national anthem played before an NFL game, it was a military veteran who advised him to kneel, saying it was more effective. He is now suing the league for collusion, arguing that NFL teams are conspiring to keep him off the field. "Adidas giving me a voice and Nike giving Colin voice on a big business level makes the world a more advanced place".

Adding that: 'I would have had a conversation with my father - I'm pretty sure I would have, but I also would have been proactive to get it organized because I do believe there needs to be more organization between the players and ownership'.

"That's one of the things you can do in this country - is you can protest - and [Colin's] protesting injustices that he sees happening", Strahan continued.

"I know there are a lot of people, in general, who are very upset", Morris said on Monday during an interview with AL.com.
