Mysterious Planet Nine exists at the edge of our solar system

The ever-convincing case that Planet Nine exists might be bolstered by their finding. When observing distant trans-Neptunian objects in the outer edges of the solar system, astronomers can see a unusual pattern emerging.

Scientists have long believed that our solar system might have a ninth planet orbiting well beyond Neptune and Pluto.

There are also a number of other odd features in our solar system that would be explained by Planet Nine. If Planet Nine is now at a distant point in its orbit, it could take thousands of years for it to circle back to a point where it's visible from Earth.

There has since been widespread speculation as to whether the planet exists, but a year ago NASA said if it did, "it's extremely distant". The planet may be 160,000 times dimmer than Neptune. Nevertheless, scientists still believe there is a possibility of that planet existing and being "10 times the mass of Earth".

Scientists now consider other other options to detect the planet. According to their calculations, a small and cold Ninth planet needs to leave his mark in the millimeter part of the spectrum between infrared light and microwaves.

University of IL cosmologist Gilbert Holder is optimistic that the millimeter telescopes in Antarctica and Chile would be able to detect the Planet Nine today if it happens to stray across their search field. If it hits 1,000 astronomical units, it would be a million times fainter than the farthest known planet from the sun.

At the moment, two separate teams are searching for Planet Nine with the Subaru telescope in Hawaii.

That massive telescope can view a field in the sky about the size of 4,000 full moons at once.

Scott Shepherd, an astronomer at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, explained: "If things are in the same orbit, then something's pushing them".

The efforts, however, do not guarantee the discovery of the planet as it could remain hidden amid the light pollution of the Milky Way.

Scientists at the University of MI said that the existence of a mysterious Ninth planet can prove with the help of gravity. This would make it entirely invisible for at least a thousand years, notes Advocator.
