The entirety of the game's story will take place in one small village that lives in peace until the arrival of monsters.

The game was revealed as part of last night's Nintendo Direct, with a short glimpse of gameplay.

Continuing its trend onto the Nintendo Switch, the publisher has just announced it has a new RPG in the works called Town. On the surface, it's a pretty ordinary town, besides the fact that it keeps being attacked by enormous monsters. It's unclear whether or not this is a special ability you need to unlock, as Nez is also shown to have a standard selection of abilities including "Elude" and "Heavy Punch". Your job is to save the town - you never venture outside its walls - and defeat the monsters in turn-based combat, perhaps enlisting the help of other villagers along the way. While they're best known for Pokémon, Game Freak has released other fun titles in the past including Drill Dozer, HarmoKnight, and Pocket Card Jockey, to name just a few. And now it's stretching its creative muscles again with an all-new role-playing adventure for Nintendo Switch!

Although Town is still a working title, this unique RPG will release on Nintendo Switch in 2019. You can see the debut footage of the game above.
