Tottenham's Hugo Lloris pleads guilty to drunk driving fined £50,000

Lloris admitted being more than twice over the drink-drive limit when his auto was stopped by police in London last month.

Hugo Lloris arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court this morning to face up to his drink-driving charge.

Lloris had vomit in his Porsche Panamera when he was stopped by officers on 24 August as he drove through Marylebone.

According to official court papers, the France star was stopped with 80 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - more than double the legal limit of 35mg.

"Prosecutor Henry Fitch said later that night police in an unmarked auto spotted Lloris' vehicle driving at 15mph in a 30mph zone", a report from the Daily Mail states.

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris faces a battle to be fit for his team's game against Liverpool this weekend as he is struggling with a thigh injury.

"On July 15 he was arguably the proudest man on the planet (having captained France to the World Cup victory)", he said.

"Forty days later, he was arrested in central London", said the lawer.

He apologised for his actions in a statement on the same day: "I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my teammates, the manager and all of the supporters". He experienced the indignity of being handcuffed and put in a police station overnight.

His lawyer David Soan said the "spectacular fall from grace" was not lost on the World Cup-winning goalkeeper.

"I made a mistake, I have to accept it".

"It's hard to pick one", Lloris told RMC Sport after being quizzed over his toughest opponent.

Tottenham have won three of their first four matches and are placed fifth in the English Premier League.
