Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores sensational strike to bring up 500th career goal

Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only active players with 500 or more senior club and global goals after scoring an eye-catching effort during LA Galaxy's defeat by Toronto.

Ibrahomivic scored in the 43rd minute on an audacious one-touch volley, finishing a long, aerial through ball from Jonathan Dos Santos.

Prior to this, Toronto had built up a 3-0 lead at BMO Field.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been a source of some truly spectacular goals while playing in Europe.

The former Manchester United striker became the third current active player, only after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to score 500 career goals.

Over his illustrious club career, he also has scored for Paris Saint-Germain (156 goals), Inter Milan (66), AC Milan (56), Ajax (48), Manchester United (29), Juventus (26), Barcelona (22), and Malmo (18). "Obviously it's not good to lose ... but I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim", he was quoted as saying to TSN after the match.

Ibrahimovic came into Saturday's game tied for second in MLS scoring. He also scored 62 goals for Swedish national side.

Ibrahimovic's goal was greeted by a standing ovation from the opposition fans but the Swede dismissed the gesture as a run of the mill response to his customary brilliance. "It reminds me of a goal I did in Ajax", he said.
