Black Ops 4 Has a 50 GB Update If You're Buying Physical

According to the Activision support website, the Black Ops 4 file size will be at 50GB on both PS4 and Xbox One! The download version of Black Ops 4 is only slightly larger, around 55GB, so yeah, depending on your Internet speed, buying physical will save you maybe...10 to 30 minutes?

You still won't be able to play Black Ops 4 until midnight on Thursday, October 11 but GAME will be selling it from 6pm the same day. However, if more games start to require this amount of storage space, it could make even 1tb hard drives begin to look small. What isn't normal is the size of the patch.

The final game size after installation and download of the patch should be 55GB on either console. This update must be installed completely in order to access Multiplayer, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters. Blackout can be played as soon as update installation/download reaches 30% on either PS4, or Xbox One. On PlayStation 4 you'll need to have more room set aside, though, as it states that for an "optimized download experience" you'll want 112 GB of free hard drive space. The patch itself will be approximately 50 GB. Either way, you'll probably have a decent wait ahead of you before you hop into Call of Duty this year. While GAME's move is considerate, it comes because retail chains tend to demand that physical versions launch alongside their digital counterparts.

South African retailers will be dishing out copies early so players can get the patch downloaded.

Black Ops 4 officially releases on Friday, October 12 and the servers are expected to go live in the United Kingdom on Thursday afternoon.
