Jimmy Butler Returns To Practice, Verbally Challenges Coaches, Teammates

Butler met with Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau and requested to be traded from the organization before he begins his final season under contract in Minnesota.

After a proposed Butler trade fell apart over the weekend, the Miami Heat remain interested in restarting talks with Minnesota to acquire Butler, league sources told ESPN earlier on Wednesday.

Jimmy Butler was in the building for the Minnesota Timberwolves' practice session today - and he reportedly "left teammates and coaches largely speechless" as he dominated the gym in every way. That said, sources say other teams feel Thibodeau doesn't have his heart in making a trade and that is the real coare problem - Thibs wants to get the band back together and win games, and owner Glen Taylor isn't coming in strong enough to force a deal to get done.

Butler was reported by many sources that he attended practice this morning, but not to play with the team, more so to meet up with his current teammates. At times, Butler has been working out away from the team at the facility since his trade request three weeks ago.

Butler arguably is a top 10 National Basketball Association player. Could we see a blockbuster trade? The Heat reportedly pushed the Timberwoles to "accept a revised offer" for Butler with a deal potentially centered around center Bam Adebayo, guard Josh Richardson and a first-round pick. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Butler was "determined to find a way to the Los Angeles Clippers" and was looking to pair with a second All-Star in the 2019 free agency class. That can all change with one phone call, but the Timberwolves are moving forward as if there will be no deal before the start of the season.

The T-Wolves' first game of the season is on Wednesday when they visit the San Antonio Spurs.
