NASA Releases More Pics Of Freaky Rectangular Iceberg

According to scientists, the iceberg's sharp angles and flat surface are an indication that it had probably recently broken off the ice shelf.

All the photos that were captured by IceBridge senior scientist, Jeremy Harbeck, who has said to be spotted this tabular iceberg which is near the Larsen C ice shelf. Previously, NASA has launched a project to search for extraterrestrial civilizations.

New photos of a surprisingly rectangular iceberg are offering the full picture of this now-famous Antarctic structure-and it remains weird as hell.

NASA started this year's Operation IceBridge in October and some of the images show not just the majesty of southern polar ice, but also some of the rather unusual and freakish shapes that icebergs can take. 'I often see icebergs with relatively straight edges, but I've not really seen one before with two corners at such right angles like this one had.' Indeed, the iceberg definitely captured the interest of the public, and the original photo of the object was shot at an angle that made the iceberg appear nearly perfectly square.

Though a certain tabular iceberg has recently gained a bit of fame after its photo spread through social media like wildfire, it turns out that it wasn't the only oddly-shaped iceberg spotted by researchers earlier this month. NASA also released a video from the viewpoint of the DC-8 aircraft as it flew towards the iceberg.

The A-68 ice island is roughly the size of Delaware.

Just past the rectangular iceberg, which is visible from behind the outboard engine, IceBridge saw another relatively rectangular berg and the A68 iceberg in the distance.

In the latest development, NASA has said to have spotted a rectangular iceberg during the operation IceBridge.

The panorama below shows the whole iceberg.
