Usain Bolt fires his first professional soccer goals

Bolt, who has also had training sessions with Borussia Dortmund, Mamelodi Sundowns and Stromsgodset, was given his first start for Central Coast Mariners for the friendly against Macarthur South West United on Friday.

The partnership with former Leeds and Aston Villa man Ross McCormack and Bolt already has the potential to surpass the pairing of Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe.

Bolt emphasised how important the fixture would be in his quest to earn a contract prior to the game and responded with a second-half brace - although neither of the goals were classics.

Bolt was replaced after 75 minutes, with Central Coast leading 4-0.

After a relatively quiet first half, Bolt came alive in the 57th minute when he showed his pace and strength to outmuscle a defender and buried a left foot strike past Eze Consoni.

And the Jamaican's hopes of bagging himself a deal took a massive step forward today after the 32-year-old scored twice during his first start for the A-League side.

It was the first game Bolt has started since joining the A-League club in August for an indefinite trial.

The goal was marked in a style only he could muster - by striking the famous "lightning bolt" pose usually reserved for track victories.

Showing that he is not just any trialist, Bolt signalled to the bench that he wanted five more minutes, but his hat trick was not forthcoming and he left the field to a standing ovation.

"To score two goals, it's a good feeling, it's what I'm working towards, I try to improve myself, I try to get better and I'm doing that". "I'm keen to be a Mariner, and get into the team".

"I have been improving but you won't know what level you're at until you play a competitive game so I just have to go out there and see what I need to do or whether I should continue or not".

"His speed endurance is a little bit better but he still looked exhausted after 15-20 minutes".

"Slight improvement if you want to say that but his touch is still very poor", Bosnich said, as quoted by Australian News.
