World boxing champion Deontay Wilder Claims Nigerian Heritage

World boxing champion Deontay Wilder Claims Nigerian Heritage

But Fury, who returned to the ring earlier this year, is not currently in the WBC's anti-doping program, involving out-of-competition testing, and has now been told by president Mauricio Sulaiman that the bout will not receive championship status until he is enrolled.

Wilder has since announced he will fight Tyson Fury in the United States on December 1, while Joshua's representatives have been pushing for Wilder to reach a conditional agreement to fight Joshua next year.

Tyson Fury has enrolled in the WBC's clean boxing programme, receiving the governing body's approval ahead of his fight with Deontay Wilder.

While sitting with Fury, the champ said he was part Nigerian, unfortunately, he didn't expand and since the line was a throwaway one, we aren't quite sure how he fits.

During the war of words, Fury takes aim at Wilder's "Bronze Bomber" persona and warns him that his time as world champion is coming to an end.

"He told me personally, publicly on Twitter".

Wilder has been enrolled in the program all along and now with Fury also in, both are expected to participate in a specialized testing protocol that goes beyond the somewhat limited scope of the WBC's Clean Boxing Program.

Whatever the outcome of the fight, the victor will face the mandatory challenger for the WBC title Dominic Breazeale, who last fought in November 2017, beating Eric Molina, if a deal isn't agreed with a certain Anthony Joshua with regards to a mega-fight in April next year, that is.

Breazeale's only career defeat came at the hands of Anthony Joshua in 2016 and faces competition from Dillian Whyte, who has also made himself available for a showdown for Wilder's title.

Fury (27-0, 19 KOs) has a history with VADA.
