Agents nibble at edges of migrant caravans

Announcing a significant change in the current catch-and-release policy for illegal immigrants, Trump said Thursday these illegal immigrants would be released only after a USA court pronounces its judgement on their asylum application.

The president made his speech amid mid-term election campaigning and with caravans of migrants making their way towards the USA border.

Shannon Bream posted the filing from her social media account.

At least a dozen migrants "traveling by foot" from Central America sued the Trump administration Thursday, saying the Department of Homeland Security was violating their "due process" rights protected under the Fifth Amendment.

Trump's professed and enacted policy towards thousands of caravanners seeking asylum in the United States is shockingly unconstitutional.

"We have the authority given to us by (Defense) Secretary (Jim) Mattis", says Air Force Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, who heads the U.S. Northern Command, which oversees all the active duty forces being deployed. "Under this plan, the illegal aliens will no longer get a free pass into our country by lodging meritless claims in seeking asylum".

By law, immigrants can seek asylum either at ports of entry or once in the USA - even if they crossed illegally.

"You come into the country - you're like two months old ... and you're gonna bring 'em all - your aunts and uncles and grandfathers and lots of people", he said.

"We're not releasing anymore - we're going to no longer release, we're going to catch, we're not going to release, they're going to stay with us until the deportation hearing or the asylum hearing takes place", he told reporters.

"None of them is a US citizen or a permanant resident", he added, "and none of them is physically in the USA or has ever been physically in the U.S. I give up. How is this real?".

The President promised a vague "executive order sometime next week" to include "everything - it'll be quite comprehensive". We're going to consider, and I told them to consider it a rifle.

Migrants from Central America, including many families and hundreds of children, are slowly moving north, though they remain hundreds of miles from the border.

If he follows through on that promise, iIt would be the largest domestic deployment of active duty military in modern American history, and eclipse the number of troops now stationed in Iraq.

Toronto lawyer Lorne Waldman said there were good reasons for accelerating the processing and deportation of people who crossed the border: it deters people with weak claims from making refugee claims in the hopes of living in Canada for years while their case wends through the system.

"They're not trained to deal potentially with a group of unarmed immigrants", Ridge said. Asylum is a very special protection intended only for those fleeing government persecution based on race, religion, and other protected status.

The ad shows Luis Bracamontes laughing at a court hearing before he was handed a death sentence and profanely vowing, "I'm gonna kill more cops soon".

Similar caravans have gathered regularly over the years and have generally dwindled by the time they reach the southern border.

The president has deployed about 5,200 troops to the southern border to serve in a support role for Border Patrol and other law-enforcement agents.

"These illegal caravans will not be allowed into the United States and they should turn back now because they're wasting their time", Trump said Thursday. He noted at one point, "Women want security".

The president made the claims five days before the USA midterm elections, when voters will determine which party will hold power in Congress and statehouses across the country.
