Ariana Grande's year has been 'painful yet beautiful'

Ariana Grande's latest single "Thank u, next" is an ode to former boyfriends, as she thanks everyone in her life for the various lessons they've taught her, ultimately allowing her to move on in life and become a better person. Grande and Davidson's whirlwind romance has been the subject of constant media attention and speculation, even after they announced their break up in early October.

Though, of course, Ariana Grande is one of the most recognizable people on the planet as it is already, so standing out is not a problem or anything.

Ariana shared her excitement with fans, saying that "honest to god I'm not okay rn".

Has everyone taken a peek at these celebratory morsels of pride (and gratitude, let's not forget) dispensed out into cyberspace by way of Grande's Twitter account?

Thank U, Next was also downloaded 81,000 times - a high total in a dying format and more than twice as many purchases as any other song last week.

The instantly catchy chorus propels the song, with the titular lyrics "thank u, next" repeated over again until Grande sings the powerful words, "I'm so f*ckin' grateful for my ex". So, look what I've got, look what you've taught me, and for that, I say, 'Thank you, next'.

And squashed rumours that she is releasing a new album this Friday.
