Fossil's latest Wear OS smartwatch adds longer battery life for $255

Fossil's latest Wear OS smartwatch adds longer battery life for $255

Fossil is announcing a new addition to its lineup of wearables today, the Fossil Sport - a Wear OS smartwatch that the company says is its lightest, among its most colorful to date and also sports the newest wearable chipset from Qualcomm.

Integrating the 3100 chip means that the watch's battery life is expected to last over 24 hours when it's in "smartwatch mode" and it lasts over two days when set to watch-only mode. There are also two sizes 41mm and 43mm with 18mm or 22mm bands, respectively, and the watch cases are made of aluminum and nylon which keeps the weight down. There's NFC for Google Pay, GPS, 5 ATM water resistance, a heart-rate monitor and an altimeter. It's also running the revamped Wear OS that just started rolling out in September.

Fossil's watches are typically designed with fashion in mind, but the Sport is all about being as functional as can be. Customization is the name of the game here, as the Fossil Sport is launching in six colors with what Fossil describes as "endless" strap options.

Interested? You can buy the Fossil Sport right now from Fossil.com for $255, or from Fossil retail stores beginning Monday, November 12. At least on paper, this represents a feature-packed smartwatch with a bonus of extended battery life - all for a price that sensibly undercuts competitors like Apple and Samsung.
