India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets

India chased down the target of 134 with six balls to spare, reaching 137 for 3 in 19 overs. Maroof made 54 runs and Dar 52.

India's leading T20 runscorer Raj was caught in the deep with only eight needed, but they soon sealed victory and will seek to maintain their ideal start when they play Ireland on Thursday. Coming up against India, Pakistan women need to put up a good show with both, bat and bowl, to claim their first win in the tournament.

In the match, Pakistan were slapped five penalty runs twice for their batters running on the pitch.

India never looked in trouble with openers Raj and Smriti Mandhana (26) finding the boundaries at regular intervals in their 73-run partnership.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur insisted India are on the right track in the ongoing Women's World T20 campaign in the Caribbean after two wins from as many games but conceded she was disappointed with the team's fielding effort against Pakistan on Sunday.

Earlier, there was some fine batting from Pakistan's middle order who took them to 133-7 in their allotted overs.

Opening bowler Arundhati Reddy immediately gave India the breakthrough by having Ayesha Zafar caught at the slips by Veda Krishnamurthy for nought in the final delivery of the first over. Dar prospered from two of those chances (dropped on 15 and 29) and Mahroof from one (dropped on 28), and both combined for a fourth wicket partnership of 94 off 71 balls.

Dayalan Hemalatha and Poonam Yadav claimed two wickets each. "It could have been a bit better, we took them until the 19th over, but we could have planned it better, if we had executed our plans, we might still have beaten them". This meant that before India started the chase, they had already accumulated 10 runs on the board.

After a dominant performance against New Zealand in which captain Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian woman to score a T20I century, her side were sloppy and dropped five catches in the field.
