India vs West Indies 2018: Bumrah, Umesh, Kuldeep rested for 3rd T20I

India, leading 2-0, have already won the three-match series, which leaves the third T20I inconsequential in nature.

The selectors added fast bowler Siddarth Kaul to the squad for the third T20I, which will take place in Chennai on Sunday.

Releasing a statement in this regard, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, "The Indian team management has made a decision to rest Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav from the upcoming third Paytm T20I against the Windies in Chennai".

Having elected to field, West Indies initially managed to restrain Rohit and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, conceding only nine runs in the first four overs. He starred in the ODIs bowling with an average of 19.88 and an economy rate of 5.37.

In the previous two matches, left-arm spinner Kuldeep picked a total of five wickets, including 3/13 at Kolkata while Bumrah took three wickets.

Kaul, who made his T20I debut against Ireland in Dublin in June, has so far featured in two matches. He last played for India in the Asia Cup in September, featuring in the match against Afghanistan. He now slots in as one of three pace bowlers behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed in India's squad for the third T20I.

The absence of key men will give a chance to players like Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Kaul to show their wares as the 2019 World Cup gets near.
