Man Leaps Over Fence Into Lagoon Filled With Crocodiles

A Florida man was bitten after he broke into the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and jumped into a pond full of crocodiles, according to staff.

Hatfield, who remains hospitalized, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and violation of probation.

The man, identified by police as Brandon Keith Hatfield, got into the park about 7:45 p.m. Monday and damaged part of its snack bar, then went into the recently opened "Oasis on the Nile" exhibit, Alligator Farm Director John Brueggen said. At one point, the video shows a crocodile lunging at the man, biting his leg before thrashing about in the water.

Try saying this five times fast: A guy wearing Crocs jumped into the crocodile pond at an alligator farm. The man had to get through several barriers to gain access to the crocodiles.

Law enforcement received a call Tuesday morning about a suspicious person in boxer shorts hiding in bushes, News 4 Jax reported. "It was later discovered the two calls were related", police said.

Mr Hatfield was apparently bitten on the foot while he sat on the bank of the pond and was taken to hospital to receive treatment.

"I would think he's on some sort of drugs", Bruggen said.

The vandalism caused more than $5,100 in damage, the arrest report said.
