Minister Kadambur Raju warns Murugadoss to remove offensive scenes

The film was released in 650+ screens across the state and registered record-breaking opening in many centres that include Chennai where the movie has grossed Rs 2.37 crore from over 330 shows in 22 theatres. However, the production house - Sun Pictures - is yet to make a formal announcement on the cuts. It attempts to pull down a democratically elected government. "This amounts to indirectly inciting people, and comes under sedition", said Mr Shanmugam, comparing the screening of Sarkar to "terrorist activity".

However, the minister did not specify the scenes that the government considers controversial.

The Minister took part in a party meeting at Chinthalakkarai to review the preparations for the impending bypoll to the Vilathikulam constituency. Already there is a controversy as AIADMK leaders alleging that Sarkar movie insulted Jayalalitha and her schemes that generated curiosity among people.

Following its release, AIADMK's Raju has accused the film of taking digs at the ruling party and according to an India Today TV report, the minister has referred to Vijay as an "extremist" who was 'acting with vested interest'. "Illegally opposing a duly certified film isn't new for this government".

Thalapathy Vijay's act as a political vigilante in Sarkar is garnering great response from fans, followers and film lovers in general. On the first day, the film collected Rs 3.65 crore and on second, the film has reportedly broken even with shares of Rs 4.40 crore being collected. "If we were intolerant, we would not have allowed the film to be screened".
