One dead, one missing after Amazon building collapse in the United States

Officials say a 50-foot wall at the warehouse collapsed.

"Last night, severe weather impacted one of our Baltimore facilities resulting in two fatalities", Dave Clark, Amazon's senior vice president of operations, said on Twitter. They used heavy equipment to shift debris including concrete and eventually found the second victim on Saturday morning at about 7.30am, according to the Baltimore Sun.

A partial collapse of an Amazon warehouse in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 2, killed two people, according to a fire chief quoted by the Baltimore Sun.

Clark said the body of a second person was pulled from the rubble around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

No others are reported missing.

Amazon closed the entire building following the wall collapse.

The Amazon Fulfillment Center was one of several buildings to suffer from storm-related damage.

"I was standing inside the building and me and one of the facilities dudes were talking, and I went to the left side of the building and he went to the right, and all of a sudden, we just heard these loud noises".

"A squall line moved through the Baltimore area late Friday with locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds", said weather.com meteorologist Linda Lam. "Winds gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour were measured in the area".
