Paramount Ranch Western Town, filming location for 'Westworld,' burns in Woolsey Fire

The historic Western town area at Paramount Ranch where many productions were filmed has been destroyed by wildfires in Northern California. "This area is an active part of the incident and we can not access it". That Westworld set is the same one that's used for HBO's upcoming Deadwood movie, which is now filming. Most importantly, our thoughts go out to all those affected by these disgusting fires. (These spots were under 35 miles from Hollywood, because the unions required studios to pay employees extra if they had to travel farther than that for work.) Paramount Ranch in particular was the home of tons of high-profile projects, from old westerns like The Virginian to shows like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and HBO's Carnivale. The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area announced that the western town portion of Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, California has burned down. "We do not have any details or photos, but it is our understanding that the structures have burned", the park service explained. So sad for the history lost.

KCBS photojournalist John Schreiber shared photos of the damage, showing scorched buildings. "Amazed the church is still standing". The show also films at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, as well as Utah and other locations. Westworld season three has not started filming yet, but Melody Ranch is being used for the Deadwood movie.

Paramount Ranch, which served as a filming location for almost 500 films and television shows over the years, is the latest casualty of the wildfires that are now sweeping across California.

The fire had grown to more than 14,000 acres and jumped the 101 Freeway in Agoura despite firefighters' best efforts Friday morning, KTLA reported.
