Porsche gives sneak peek at new 911 prototype

The prototypes of the 2019 Porsche 911 have been tested in different climate zones with temperature difference being up to 85-degree Celsius.

The cat's pretty much out of the bag when it comes to the next generation Porsche 911 with recent spy photos revealing 99 percent of the exterior.

The 8th generation Porsche 911 will launch in Europe in early 2019 and Porsche has been putting the cars through its paces ahead of next years launch. Moreover, there are practical checks and stress tests for the completely new working idea in the cockpit, and in addition instruments and shows.

Porsche has been testing the prototypes under various conditions: temperature differences, elevation changes, traffic jams and on racetracks to check the components reliability and the auto suitability for daily use. The new driver assistance systems and extended connectivity must also rise to the challenges of the strenuous testing marathon: Porsche Connect differs from country to country, so testing its operation and functions is very resource-intensive.

In hot high-temperature conditions (the Middle East's Gulf States or the American Death Valley) they tested the behavior of air conditioning, thermal management and combustion.

Porsche has tested the 911's limits in all kinds of extreme conditions, including temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cold area testing, such as in Finland, focused on cold starts, heating and air conditioning, traction, handling, and braking.

The carmaker also tested the Porsche 911 in the European Arctic Circle areas and during endurance runs on the road and tracks in China to check the reliability on fuels of various qualities.

A less spectacular component of testing, albeit no less important, is customer-oriented everyday driving on public roads through cities and across the countryside to ensure that the vehicle and all systems are durable for daily use. By the time testing is complete, the cars have been driven for around three million kilometres in total.
