Van Dijk: Ramos is not my type of defender

Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic will speak with Dejan Lovren about comments the Liverpool defender made to Sergio Ramos on social media.

When one of Lovren's followers asked if the incident had been a form of revenge for Mo Salah, whose Champions League final was cut short after the Egyptian injured his shoulder after a tussle with Ramos last May, the 29-year-old responded with a heart emoji.

"Mentally, something changed for Real Madrid once Salah left the pitch", Van Dijk told De Telegraaf.

Harry Kane has moved to play down any animosity between England and Croatia - and particularly Dejan Lovren - ahead of their crunch UEFA Nations League match on Sunday.

Liverpool and Ronaldo-led Real Madrid clashed in the Champions League final back in May, with Los Blancos winning 3-1 in Ukraine.

Lovren spoke about Ramos earlier this month in an interview where he claimed the Spain worldwide makes a lot of mistakes, in the latest of a number of incidents of bad feeling between Liverpool players and Ramos.

"Haha! 3-2! Go ahead and talk now, buddy".

'Of course Lovren is another fantastic defender and I look forward to going up against him tomorrow. "He's an excellent defender, he's young and yet he's won a lot". Buddy! They are a bunch of p******,' Lovren reportedly said.

Lovren has since come out and said that Ramos is not as good as people make out, suggesting that he gets away with more mistakes than other defenders due to the quality in Real Madrid's midfield and attack.

"His way of defending is different because he tries to avoid being in situations where he has to intervene and tackle". But you suspect Ramos' actions that night may have swayed the opinion of everyone associated with Liverpool.
