Canseco makes pitch for chief of staff job in tweet to Trump

In yet another instance of President Donald Trump battling the press and destroying Washington and American traditions, the annual White House Christmas Party for the press has been canceled.

Calling it "a significant perk for those covering the White House", Fox News' Howard Kurtz noted "the biggest fringe-benefit was the picture-taking sessions, in which the president and first lady would patiently pose with guests and briefly chat with them in front of a Christmas tree". This would take a couple of hours, with long lines snaking across the building's first floor. According to White House Correspondent Andrew Feinberg, Gingrich is now topping the president's short list, but no decision has yet been made.

John Kelly is stepping down by the end of the year.

Trump routinely calls reporters "fake news" and "enemy of the people" while reporters criticize the president for everything he does, like attending a funeral.

The White House also recently pulled press credentials from CNN's Jim Acosta after a news conference where he refused to hand over the microphone.

Some media members have received invitations to one of the multitude of holiday parties being hosted by the White House throughout the month, including some Fox News hosts.

But he soon will have had three in just two years in office.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway suggested on Tuesday that he would be staying in his the role until around January 2 to help ensure "a very peaceful and pragmatic transition" for the next person.

Some critics questioned whether those who cover or comment on the White House should engage in such socializing, but few turned down the invitations.
