Derek Fisher hired to coach WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks

Fisher, 44, spent 18 years as an National Basketball Association player for the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks.

Fisher played in the National Basketball Association for 18 seasons and helped the Los Angeles Lakers win five titles.

Derek Fisher's coaching career did not go particularly well, as the former New York Knicks coach registered a 40-96 record in a year-plus at the helm in Manhattan before getting fired.

The suit says the Woloshins rented the house previous year after their home was damaged by Hurricane Irma, agreeing to pay $30,000 a month.

He fills the void created when Brian Agler, who reigned in November after four seasons, including leading Los Angeles to the WNBA championship in 2016.

The former National Basketball Association player and coach will be introduced at a news conference on Friday. The Sparks were 19-15 in 2018, falling to the Washington Mystics in the second round of the playoffs. "I look forward to working with someone with championship pedigree and who has a track record of strong leadership".

"I'm excited to be the new head coach of the LA Sparks", Fisher said in a statement.

An introductory press conference will be held Friday, Dec. 7, with more details to come.
