George Bush Sneaks Michelle Obama Candy at Father's Funeral

Before the public started walking past Bush's casket, USA political dignitaries praised him as an American hero in World War II, a statesman, a world leader and, perhaps most of all, as a decent man full of grace.

A visibly emotional Dole was wheeled into the Capitol rotunda where Bush's body lie in state.

They stood in front of the casket with their eyes closed for a few moments, before Mr Trump saluted the casket. Once steadied, Dole saluted.

Bush achieved the office that Dole sought in 1996 as the Republican presidential nominee. Bush, 94, died Friday.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who will attend the funeral in Washington, D.C., has ordered flags on state buildings to be flown at half-staff.

President Donald Trump has declared a national day of mourning for the late President George H.W. Bush, to take place on Wednesday, December 5.

"I might have left Air Force One behind", Bush quipped during the 2005 unveiling of 4141, a blue and grey locomotive commissioned in honour of the 41st president and unveiled at Texas A&M University.

"President Bush worked selflessly throughout his long life to bring about a world of justice and lasting peace". He was a familiar presence in Washington: a congressman in the late 1960s, then Central Intelligence Agency director, envoy to China and Republican Party chairman. Thousands showed up to the Capitol to mourn the former president.

"Here lies a great man", said Rep. Paul Ryan, the House speaker, and "a gentle soul".

Although Mr Bush's funeral services are suffused with the flourishes accorded presidents, by his choice they will not include a formal funeral procession through downtown Washington.

The queen and Philip weren't the only ones who visited with and had a close relationship with George H.W. Bush. He will be laid to rest alongside his wife of 73 years, Barbara, who died earlier this year, and their daughter, Robin, who succumbed to leukemia in childhood.

Courts across Maryland will also be closed on Wednesday in honor of the former President.
