Infant ibuprofen sold at Walmart, Family Dollar and CVS recalled

Infant ibuprofen sold at Walmart, Family Dollar and CVS recalled

Officials with Tris Pharma, Inc. announced Wednesday a voluntary recall of three lots of infant ibuprofen, due to a potentially higher concentration of ibuprofen.

The affected products were sold at several Walmart, CVS Pharmacy and Family Dollar stores across the country.

The company is warning that there is a possibility that infants may be more vulnerable to permanent NSAID-associated kidney injury because they are more susceptible to a higher potency level of the drug. Other possible adverse effects include tinnitus (ringing in the ears), headaches and stomach bleeding.

Tris Pharma said it has not received any reports of customers experiencing adverse effects from the products.

The recalled lots from Walmart are 00717009A, 00717015, and 00717024A.

The National Drug Code numbers on the recalled packages are 49035-125-23 for Walmart, 59779-925-23 for CVS and 55319-250-23 for Family Dollar.
