Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot 'set for Liverpool move'

The Parisians have been keen to offer him a new deal and have been constantly in touch with his representatives, but the club hierarchy have run out of patience.

France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been "indefinitely benched" by Paris Saint-Germain, which should pique the interest of Liverpool ahead of the summer.

PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique has told Yahoo Sport the France worldwide will effectively be left to rot on the sideline until his deal expires.

They believe that for months the player and his entourage misled them and the club have hardened their position to limit the options for Rabiot in the coming months.

The outcome of that will apparently be an extended period on the substitutes bench and that stand off must surely raise the possibility that he will leave the club in next month's transfer window.

According to Le Parisien, Barcelona and Rabiot have reached an agreement, though the report does not specify if he will join in the winter transfer window or at the end of the season.

It led to speculation linking Rabiot with a move away from Paris last summer but the Ligue 1 giants chose to hold on to the midfielder in the hope of persuading him to sign a new deal during the season. We had discussed these conditions so that he would stay with us for years to come.

The 23-year-old had been widely reported as unsatisfied with his situation at PSG, and was angling for a move away from the Parc des Princes.

"But, unfortunately, from now on, the discussions have totally stopped".

It remains unclear if Rabiot will be sold in January, or leave for free at the end of the season.

"Especially from a player who has played under our colours from the academy to the first team and a player who has always received the full support of the club".
