Sarah Papenheim, American Student Studying Abroad, Fatally Stabbed in Rotterdam, Netherlands

She was studying psychology at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Sarah Papenheim, 21, a psychology student at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, was found dead in her home in a student apartment complex Wednesday with multiple stab wounds.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested the same day at the railway station in the southern city of Eindhoven. Pryor, a 19-year-old keyboardist, said he and Papenheim met at a jam session a few years ago and immediately connected due to their young ages and love of music.

Speaking to FOX, Papenheim's mother said that police found "her in a bath of blood, stabbed to death and beat up and stabbed for no reason".

Adam Pryor met Papenheim in Minneapolis' music scene and the two quickly became friends. Renowned drummer "Jellybean" Johnson, who played drums for Prince, called her "a great spirit", according to CBS Minnesota. The two would regularly join in jam sessions at local clubs in the city.

Papenheim and her family had stayed in the Twin Cities until second grade, when they relocated to Redding.

Pryor shared with ABC News a series of text messages Papenheim sent him on December 6 in which she claimed, "My roommate told me he's gonna kill 3 people. So im gonna have to go to the police".

Papenheim's classmates are shocked by her killing.

Regarding the roommate, Odegard told KMSP, "He'd have highs and lows, and she noticed that and I told her she needed to get out of there because something ain't right".

"I'm heartbroken", Odegard told KRCR.

"She was very critical of herself, but once she got on stage, boom", Naughton said. I still can't believe that something this bad happened to her, especially. "She was just so special in so many ways". I had trust in her.

An American student was stabbed to death in Rotterdam while studying overseas.

Brian Naughton said he was going to hire Papenheim as his drummer once she returned to Minnesota. "I'm his only friend and he won't hurt me'". "You kind of know what they are going to say".

"They loved talking about music", Odegard said. "I've cried so much, my ducts are dry".

"It's so unbelievable what happened, it's just so awful", he said.

Papenheim, a Minnesotan native, died Wednesday afternoon after she was attacked at her apartment in Rotterdam, according to Rotterdam police and Minneapolis ABC affiliate KSTP-TV.

Pryor last spoke to Papenheim on Monday and talked about concerts she was planning to go see in Europe, saying she "was just so excited".

Papenheim was an avid musician.
