Though the movie star tried to do the good deed anonymously, he says that unforeseen circumstances revealed him as the Secret Santa.

After reports started circulating that the powerhouse filmmaker paid off nearly 1,500 people's bills by donating $432,635 to two locations of the retail titan, Perry took to Twitter to reveal himself as their Secret Santa. Perry, who was born in Louisiana, has owned a home in the Atlanta area for years.

Tyler Perry is in the giving spirit this holiday season, as he just dropped $434,000 to pay off shoppers' layaways at Walmart.

Perry, who intended the gift to be anonymous, confirmed the move in a video posted Thursday to Twitter.

Perry's gesture applied to layaways that were already in the stores as of 9:30 a.m. local time on December 6. Putting an item on layaway allows customers to make small payments on items until they pay in full and can retrieve their product. "So God bless you, go get your stuff, and Merry Christmas".

"Talk about a Merry Christmas!" Eastern Time on Thursday, Dec. 6.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, any items placed on layaway at the East Point and Douglasville stores before 9:30 a.m. December 6, were included in Perry's payments.

The number of layaways Perry took care of is unknown, but a store manager at the Douglasville location told the AJC that the store typically has over 1,000 layaways during the holidays.
