White Christmas for Waterloo Region unlikely: Environment Canada

The chances for a white Christmas haven't changed much in Minnesota over the past 30 years. Forecast odds show a white Christmas will not be as widespread in 2018 as it was past year when just more than half of the lower 48 states in the US had snow on the ground.

According to the forecast, there is a 25 percent chance that we will get snow.

Tuesday will bring tons of sun, so despite our colder start, temperatures will finish slightly above normal again, in the mid-30s. "There's no major weather systems and in many areas, most of the snow has melted because we've had quite mild weather in the past few days".

And while it's becoming more likely that there will be no snow this year, Cutter said dreamers shouldn't give up hope.

If I had to make the forecast today for next week, I would expect Partly Cloudy skies, breezy south winds and a 4pm temperature around 60º.

The lack of snow on Christmas Day is a rarity in North Dakota but it has happened.

"Odds are looking like not a white Christmas", reiterated Ayd. Another cold front looks to arrive late on Christmas night into Wednesday. Thursday, that system will be passing through with the chance of a little light rain or drizzle, possibly mixed with a little snow or sleet.

The good news is, however, that we're getting less snow than we did at this time past year, which may be a good thing for those travelling at Christmastime.

While there's a chance for rain Wednesday night and Thursday in the Kansas City area, the rest of the week and the holiday weekend should be fairly dry, with highs near 50 degrees.
