Acer Unleashes Predator Triton 900 Convertible with RTX 2080 Graphics

At CES 2019 Acer revealed more details on their Predator Triton line of gaming laptops, and one of them comes packed with a pretty freaky looking hinge. What sets these laptops apart is, among a few other interesting features and some interesting design choices, support for Nvidia's new (ish) RTX 2080 GPUs, the most powerful graphics processors on the market today. While the Predator Triton 900 places emphasis on the combination of performance and the convertible-features, the Acer Predator Triton 500 combines performance with mobility. Otherwise, the specs are very much what you'd expect from a modern gaming laptop, with 8th generation Intel i7 chips, 16GB of base memory (with the option of going up to 32GB) and up to a terabyte of NVMe-based storage. The Triton 900 also comes with support for Predator RGB Assault, an app for League of Legends gamers. It easily converts the laptop into a tablet or a 17-inch computer and display mode. The screen has a 4K resolution and supports G-Sync. Nvidia's tech models how we view real-world light, though proceed with caution, because only a limited number of games now support ray-tracing. The maxed out variant of the notebook rocks Intel's hexa-core 8th Gen Core i7 processor with six cores, along with NVMe PCIe SSDs, NVIDIA'S new RTX 2080 GPU, and up to 32GB DDR4 memory.

As a bonus, it has a built-in Xbox controller receiver and a Waves NX head tracking module for impeccable 3D audio. The Predator Triton 500 is the thinner of the two systems at 17.9mm, and it weighs just 4.6lbs. Acer is also releasing a new mobile app later this year that will allow users to control things like overclocking, fan speeds, lighting, etc. on their Acer gaming devices from their phone. Users can show active lighting profiles preset on the PC, or switch lighting profiles remotely.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 will be available in the U.S. and Europe in February, starting at $1,799 (€1,999, AU$2,540).
