Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul suspended pending inquiry over Koffee with Karan row

Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji Friday recommended "suspension till further action" against India players Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul after the BCCI legal team refused to declare their outrage-evoking comments on women a violation of the code of conduct.

"Certain remarks / comments made by the guests on the episode 12 of Koffee with Karan [season 6] may hurt the sentiments of our users / viewers", the Star India-owned Hotstar said in a tweet, replying to a user query about the now-missing episode. The 25-year old Indian cricketer's comments were disrespectful to women, creating an instant furore on social media platform Twitter. Their names are still present on the show's official description on Hotstar though.

While a decision from the BCCI over the extent of the bans for both Hardik and KL Rahul remains pending, the cricketers' immediate future in the team also hangs in balance.

Pandya, who was in the squad that beat Australia for the first time in an away Test series, boasted about his success with multiple women. "And they were like, 'Waah, proud of you beta'". "You are just watching and observing how they move as I said I am a little from the black side (influenced by West Indies culture) so I have to see how they (women) move first", he said. "And I actually had to tell them".

Kohli added that the two players "have understood the magnitude of what's happened". Rahul answered saying, "up to the woman" while an outspoken Hardik said: "Nahi nahi aisa kuch nahi hai, talent pe hota hai". It is also believed that BCCI will issue fresh show cause notices to the two cricketers before a formal enquiry begins.

".We definitely don't align with those views and those are purely individual views". Ranveer Singh, who is basking in the success of Simmba, appeared on the show with his Band Baaja Baaraat co-star Anushka Sharma in 2011 and two snippets from the episode are being shared on social media with words of criticism for Ranveer Singh for his callous comments about Kareena Kapoor and Anushka.

The first ODI between Australia and India is set to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.

"From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don't support", he said.
