Klopp praises Fabinho's 'defensive brain' after narrow Liverpool win

Asked if any of the rough treatment dished out to Salah bothered Liverpool, Scotland full-back Robertson replied: "None of it apart from the diving, he's not that type of player".

"It's not that Brighton had one attack after the other - we had the ball most of the time so it makes sense to have a good footballer in that position".

"Fabinho is a brilliant player", Klopp said in his post-match press conference.

Liverpool went seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and bounced back from two successive defeats in all competitions after a Mohamed Salah penalty gave them a 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Momentum and confidence were certainly the topics of the day as Liverpool did very well to hold onto their 1-0 lead, earned through Mo Salah's penalty.

Liverpool produced a clinical if unimpressive performance on the south coast, having lost 2-1 at City in their previous league outing before being beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup third round by the same scoreline.

Klopp's men shut down that wobble with their workmanlike win at Brighton though, leaving Robertson hopeful the victory will grow in significance as the weeks pass.

"For Adam [Lallana] it might be a bit early but we have a few players out and they need the time".

"And then on Saturday we did the exact same".

"If you fall from the horse, the best thing to do is go immediately back on it", Klopp told reporters at the Amex Stadium after the game.

Brazilian Fabinho produced a game-saving block from Seagulls midfielder Pascal Gross in a match that Liverpool had previously become accustomed to dropping points in.

"We have Joel [Matip] now back as he was on the bench against Brighton but he as well will use the time for bone healing and it all helps so it's good for us in that way".
