Land Cruiser Heritage Edition launched in US

The wheels perfectly complement the "Midnight Black" or "Blizzard Pearl" paintjobs that are available on the special edition, of which 1,200 will be available in the USA, and an old-school Land Cruiser badge finishes off the look. For those who don't know, the "Toyota" font and scripted "Land Cruiser" are styled in the same fashion as the original badge used on the early 40Series Land Cruiser (which keen-eyed readers can spot hidden in the main photo). But to set it apart from the rest of the range, it gains a set of 18-inch BBS wheels finished in bronze. Yum.

Again, Toyota's 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition hits lots in late Summer 2019. Black or white are the only two color options available for this special edition.

Inside, it has black leather galore with bronze contrast stitching throughout the cabin.

Deleted running boards and chrome lower side moldings help play up the SUV's off-road and overlanding nature.

To be honest, that's true of the regular vehicle too - the Land Cruiser is a proper body-on-frame SUV with double-wishbone front and four-link coil-spring rear suspension, after all. There are also loads of features tucked away in here, including ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Also showcased on the inside are all-weather floor mats and a cargo liner.

In terms of powertrain, the story is the same as always.

Under the hood you will find a 5.7-liter DOHC V8 engine producing 381 horsepower and 401 lb. -ft. of torque. Power heads through an 8-speed automatic transmission to a full-time four-wheel drive system with a 2-speed transfer case and a limited-slip rear differential.

The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition unveiled Wednesday ahead of its Chicago auto show debut next month is a flashback in more ways than just its retro-inspired badging.
