McGregor wants MMA bout against Tenshin Nasukawa

Following the successful "9 minute walk to $9 million" accomplished by Floyd Mayweather on New Year's Eve, Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor expressed willingness to participate in an "exhibition bout" with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

McGregor is coming off getting demolished by Nurmagomedov, and between his boxing match against Mayweather and the launch of his whiskey, has worked more as a promoter than a fighter in the past two years.

"I wish to go to Tokyo to face Tenshin Nasukawa in a Mixed Martial Arts exhibition bout", McGregor said. "Before this summer. Please arrange this, this instant. Yours sincerely. The champ champ".

The Irishman would also struggle to make Nasukawa's proposed 58kg weight limit - McGregor fights at lightweight, or 66kg, in UFC, having previously fought at 61kg in the featherweight division.

Conor McGregor was obviously watching when Floyd Mayweather fought Tenshin Nasukawa. Aside from the potential money involved McGregor would have little to gain by fighting (or even defeating) Nasukawa seeing as Mayweather has already done it.

"Thank you very much for remembering my name", Nasukawa wrote.

In a followup Tweet, Nasukawa reminded that he will soon be competing in the RISE World Grand Prix, and encouraged Conor McGregor to watch his diet and wait for him.

In his most recent fight, "The Notorious" was unsuccessful in his bid for Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC lightweight title last October.

McGregor's UFC future is unclear until the outcome of the Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing into the UFC 229 melee is revealed.
