Men's draw revealed for Australian Open

Men's draw revealed for Australian Open

Andy Murray will make his return to the Australian Open with a tough first-round match against Roberto Bautista Agut.

Men's second seed Rafael Nadal opens against Australian James Duckworth, fourth seed Alexander Zverev starts against Slovenian Aljaz Bedene, and last year's runner-up Marin Cilic plays another local in Bernard Tomic.

Top seed Novak Djokovic, who like Federer is bidding for a record seventh title in Melbourne, will take on a qualifier.

A highlight first-round clash will see Australia's unseeded Nick Kyrgios up against Canada's big-serving 16th seed Milos Raonic, with the victor facing either Stan Wawrinka or Ernests Gulbis.

The contest was played under match conditions on Margaret Court Arena but, with the score 6-1, 4-1, Murray called an end to proceedings.

A supporter of the 31-year-old wrote on Instagram saying how much they enjoyed Murray's practice match with Novak Djokovic on Thursday.

On the women's side, all eyes will be on Serena Williams as she aims for Grand Slam number 24. Halep has drawn another first-round against Kaia Kanepi, who beat her at the same stage at last year's U.S. Open, and a possible third rounder against unseeded Venus Williams. He defeated Tsonga in the 2008 Australian final.

"I can't believe it's been a year already", Dane Wozniacki said at the draw ceremony.

In an interview to The Times of India, the three-time Grand Slam victor Stan Wawrinka commented on the Big Three's dominance.

Second seed and 2016 champion Angelique Kerber, bidding for a fourth Grand Slam title, will open against Slovenian Polona Hercog, with a possible quarter-final against 2017 U.S. Open victor Sloane Stephens in the second week.
