Milwaukee Bus Driver Rescues Baby Wandering Alone on Street

It shows driver Irina Ivic stopping her bus and running towards the toddler, who is seen crying while aimlessly running on the sidewalk.

The Milwaukee County Transit System says the boy was less than a year old and wearing only a diaper and a onesie when bus driver Irena Ivic spotted him on December 22. Another security camera captured her reaction in the driver's seat. She jumped out of her bus and stopped traffic so she could scoop up the barefoot toddler. When she returned to the bus, Ivic told the passengers "I'm shaking" as she held the little girl.

"I have my children too and if I find myself in the same situation again, I will, of course, help again". It's unclear how long he had been alone outside. Authorities say the child was cold and frightened, but otherwise OK. The video shows her lightly kiss him on his head, letting him know everything was OK.

Ivic said she was grateful she could keep the boy safe, MCTS said in a video about the incident.

Firefighters and police soon arrived on the scene.

According to statements made by the transit system officials, the girl was left by her mother, who had a mental disorder, and was later safely reunited with her father. Thanks to her quick thinking and warm heart, he was kept out of harm's way.
