The Accidental Prime Minster Public review

Anupam Kher's The Accidental Prime Minister is facing tough competition from Vicky Kaushal's military drama Uri: The Surgical Strike and Ranveer Singh's action-cop-drama Simmba.

The Congress activists also allegedly threatened the viewers to immediately leave the auditorium and claimed they would not allow the film to be screened anywhere as its content is "disrespectful" towards the senior party leaders.

Anupam Kher, who plays the role of Manmohan Singh in the film, has denied all allegations of supporting the ruling party.

The movie's screening was stopped, though its 2 pm show on the first day had passed off smoothly, Chokhani said. Now before the film had released, it created quite a buzz with it's lead actor, Anupam Kher making tall claims about the film being a honest project with no political agenda behind it.

However, a spokesperson for INOX told NDTV that the screening was only briefly interrupted. But the situation is under control now with the help of authorities. The theatre said it would not cancel screenings of the movie. Earlier, Maharashtra Youth Congress wrote to the makers, objecting to the film and demanded a pre-release screening. And now, a group of Congress workers allegedly attacked a theatre in a Kolkata shopping mall and disrupted a show.

"We do not support any acts of vandalism".

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday had questioned the timing of the movie's release ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and claimed such films were made by twisting facts. Moreover, what has also propelled the film to this kind of a number is the controversy surrounding it.
