Transfer: Arsenal battle Man United for Dalian Yifang star

Arsenal are getting closer in signing Belgium global Yannick Carrasco.

Arsenal have been linked with Carrasco, with Belgian journalist Terreur rubbishing the reports on Tuesday.

The side is now fifth in the Premier League table, and seem to return to winning ways after two successive victories in the Premier League and the FA Cup third round fixture.

Carrasco now plays for Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang and is on a lucrative £9m per-year contract.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Carrasco wants to sign for a Premier League club and has "given his approval" to Arsenal, despite interest from Manchester United.

The Belgian winger was previously linked with a move to Manchester United, as the Old Trafford side pushed to bring Carrasco back to Europe.

It's set to be a busy January transfer window for Unai Emery.

Arsenal have favoured wing-backs under Emery but in attacking areas there has been an over-reliance on the likes of Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. While it's no secret that a deal for Denis Suarez could be on the table, a move for Carrasco could benefit the side.

Yannick Carrasco is looking for a Chinese Super League escape route and, despite his astronomical salary, it's no surprise on the evidence of his bewildering highlights package.

Inter Milan and Roma are also interested.

Ramsey will leave Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season - and we reported last week that a move to Juventus was his preferred choice.
