18 pics of the biggest supermoon of the year over Montreal

The full moon on February 19, 2019, counts as the most "super" of these full supermoons because it's the full moon that most closely aligns with perigee - the moon's closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit. The moon appears big and bright in the sky when it is close to the Earth. Although in India, the moon wasn't visible at its full since it happened during the day and the rain made the visibility worse, the full moon was reportedly visible in the country at around 9:24 pm IST.

Moonrise will be the best time for those interested in capturing dramatic supermoon photos because the moon will be closest to the horizon.

It was called the "bone" or "hunger" moon by Native Americans and early European settlers because of bleak conditions in the depths of winter. However, according to the Almanac, most people won't be able to spot the difference between super moons and typical full moons.

And the March Full Moon is the third and final Full Moon Supermoon of the year.
